An opportunity has arisen for a passionate individual to fulfil the role of Driver Team Manager at Leicester. As a line manager for the Drivers, you will require leadership and an ability to motivate the team to deliver professional standards at all times. You must be a Fully Qualified Train Driver to apply for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the team achieving safety, performance and financial targets.
- Demonstrate a real commitment to delivering ever-higher standards of driving excellence.
- Coach, communicate and develop the strengths of each team member to enable positive contributions.
- Act as the first point of call for safety or performance issues, and manage assessment and competency requirements.
- Take decisive action when objectives or targets are not met in this safety‑critical environment.
- Support the business during periods of disruption with on‑call and out‑of‑hours duty and flexible shift work.
- Maintain professional driving standards and a ‘hands‑on’ approach while managing effectively from a distance.
- Collaborate and liaise with external suppliers and colleagues.
- Manage a budget, where relevant.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Fully Qualified Train Driver with sound knowledge of on‑train safety requirements and railway operations.
- Excellent report‑writing and investigatory skills.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team and manage a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing a budget (desirable).
- Flexibility to work various shifts and in a safety‑critical environment.
- Capability to deal appropriately with difficult situations.
- Willingness to undertake a full medical examination, substance‑abuse screening and DBS check.
