Arriva UK Bus is looking for a highly skilled and ambitious PSV Master Technician to join our engineering team at Heckmondwike Depot. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer who thrives on complex diagnostics, problem‑solving, and being the technical expert others rely on.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex mechanical and electrical diagnostics across our PSV fleet.
- Diagnose and repair issues across engines, gearboxes, axles, body systems and high‑voltage equipment.
- Work with advanced systems including CAN Line, After‑Treatment Exhaust Systems, Multiplex networks, Euro5/Euro6 engines and hybrid technologies.
- Serve as the technical authority for fault investigations, root cause analysis and system performance.
- Act as custodian of all technical campaigns and fleet checks, ensuring buses meet the highest safety and compliance standards.
- Provide expert advice to the Engineering Manager and liaise with OEM suppliers, chassis manufacturers and technical support teams.
- Support engineers across the depot and mentor apprentices where required.
- Carry out technical projects and trials on behalf of the wider Engineering leadership team.
Qualifications
- PSV engineering experience is essential.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Bus & Coach, Heavy Vehicle or Automotive Engineering.
- Strong diagnostic capability using tools such as Cummins Insite, Volvo Tech Tool, ACTIA, WABCO, Xentry and similar.
- Good working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring looms, harnesses, alternators, starters and multiplexing.
- Confidence using IT systems including Word, Excel, Outlook and diagnostic software.
- Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points).
- Proactive, organised and able to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
- Willingness to continue developing skills through training and manufacturer courses.
- Must be able to pass a PCV medical (we will upgrade your licence to PCV).
