The Role – Light Maintenance Team Leader (Movements)

Duties

  • Responsible for leading and coordinating all Rail vehicle Movements activities and personnel at the relevant ATC Depot.
  • Full ownership of all Rail Vehicle Movements on Depot, ensuring all Arrival and departures are conducted safely, competently and in line with ATC procedures.
  • Line management of a shunting team.
  • Ensure safety of your team.
  • Produce Daily Movements Plans, communicating with all (internal and external) stakeholders, and ensure the plans are delivered safely.
  • Responsible for ensuring team members are fully competent to carry out their roles.
  • Ensure clear/continuous communication with all stakeholders.
  • Implementation and maintenance of safety systems, production efficiency and quality output at the relevant ATC Depot site.
  • Implement clear leadership of all Rail Vehicle movements, by assuming the role of Designated Person and PICoTM.
  • Produce daily Movements planners, to include Depot moves, Arrivals and Departures.
  • Ensuring the safe movement of vehicles whilst complying with ATC procedures.
  • Complete in process evaluations and ensure competence of team members.
  • Ensuring the wellbeing of all relevant personnel.
  • Implementation of customer requirements.
  • Production of meaningful KPIs for internal and external monitoring.
  • Mentoring and coaching of Team Members to ensure that they fulfil their job requirements and have the relevant training to do so.
  • Carry out any duties within your level of competence as requested by the Service Delivery Leader.
  • Cover the Service Delivery Leader's role as and when required.
  • Assisting with continuous improvement innovations.
  • Ensuring work locations are fit for purpose and compliant with relevant standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the effective recording of activity in accordance with Company, Customer and best practice standards.
  • Ensuring that team members are up to date with business communications.
  • Conduct staff and customer briefings ensuring staff compliance.
  • Ensure safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMIs and local instructions.
  • Assist the management team in accident investigations.
  • Drive the safety culture within your team encouraging Near Miss reporting, and actions to prevent accidents and incidents.
  • Carry out safety tours identifying, and rectifying issues found.
  • Lead investigations into operational incidents.
  • First line management of team.

Person Specification

  • BTEC Level 3/City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Management training.
  • Understanding of Traction and Rolling Stock.

Experience And Knowledge

  • Management of rail vehicle depot operations.
  • Previous Depot Driver experience.
  • Understanding of applicable health and safety and environmental standards and requirements.
  • Understanding of production efficiency techniques.
