Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults on PSV, HGV and Light Goods Vehicles
- Carry out routine electrical inspections, servicing and preventive maintenance
- Install, repair and replace electrical components such as wiring looms, alternators, starter motors, batteries, lighting systems, climate control units and infotainment systems
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues
- Ensure all repairs follow manufacturer guidelines and safety standards
- Complete accurate and timely reports on work carried out
- Work alongside mechanics, technicians and engineers within a collaborative depot environment
- Keep up to date with new and emerging vehicle electrical technologies, including hybrid and electric systems
- Participate in overtime and on-call rotations when required
Qualifications
Essential
- Recognised qualification or apprenticeship in Vehicle Electrical or Electronic Systems (or equivalent)
- Hands‑on electrical experience with PSV, HGV or Light Vehicle fleets
- Strong diagnostic capability and confidence working with wiring diagrams and schematics
- Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
- Full UK driving licence. Cat D (PCV) desirable, or willingness to obtain through in‑house training
- Good understanding of electrical safety and compliance in vehicle environments
Desirable
- Experience with hybrid or electric vehicle systems
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and teamwork ability
