Accountabilities:
- Use monitoring and control systems to control, configure and operate equipment, systems, networks and platforms, directly and remotely.
- Provide network monitoring and event management through the Operation Support Systems (OSS) in line with Service Level Agreements and network availability figures.
- Take corrective action and ensure incidents are directed to the correct resolver group to secure rapid resolution.
- Enter accurate incident reports/logs and service details/schedules into the system and track reported incidents to satisfactory resolution.
- Drive the resolution of service affecting events, creating incidents, applying technical and engineering knowledge and escalating to appropriate resolver groups where necessary.
- Communicate maintenance schedules of Arqiva’s in life products and services to internal and external stakeholders.
- Operation of Customers services as part of the team of MCR Operations Engineers.
- Assisting in operation of managed services to Service Level Agreement.
- Responsible for the reporting of equipment and system problems, and for drafting incident reports.
- Control, configuration and operation of equipment directly and remotely using monitoring and control systems.
- Reporting service details to customers.
- Logging service details.
- Monitoring of services carried by Arqiva.
- Switching feeds.
- Specific services responsibilities as requested.
- Instigation of call out and fault escalation procedures.
- Occasional Maintenance and project work.
- Contribution to the information systems in the MCR.
- Carry out any tasks commensurate with your post as directed by the Team Leader.
- Required to work as part of a 24-hour operational team including regular weekend and night working.
- Irregular working hours as dictated by the needs of the business.
- Travel to other Arqiva facilities or to customer premises.
Experience/Expertise:
- Must be familiar with broadcast system standards and waveform measurements, e.g., SDI, AES/EBU, MPEG/ASI, HD, Dolby etc.
- Should have knowledge of satellite RF systems, and associated technologies, such as DVB-S/S2.
- Good telephone manner essential.
- Must have good interpersonal skills when dealing with customers and third parties.
- Able to work under pressure in a dynamic environment as part of a small group.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise fault reports.
- Must have clear understanding of relationships throughout the satellite industry between Arqiva, satellite operators and customers.
- TCP/IP knowledge desirable.
