Broadcast Transmission Engineer – RF System
Job Description
Location: Flexible, hybrid working environment with the candidate required to travel to either our Winchester or London office once or twice a week.

Role Purpose:
As a Transmission Engineer specializing in RF, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of broadcast transmission systems. This role requires in-depth knowledge of RF systems and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain transmitters, ensuring high-quality signal delivery and the reliability of transmission infrastructure.
Accountabilities:
- Install, test, analyse, troubleshoot, and maintain broadcast transmission equipment, with a focus on RF systems and transmitters to achieve maximum performance and availability.
- Provide technical expertise in the development and deployment of RF and broadcast transmission services, driving continuous improvement in performance and service quality.
- Design and implement processes for the seamless deployment of new RF transmission services, ensuring efficient system integration.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements in the design and deployment of RF and broadcast transmission systems.
- Supervise the delivery of 3rd party suppliers and contractors, ensuring that delivery specifications meet Arqiva’s requirements for RF and transmission services.
- Standardize RF equipment and systems to minimize disruptions and achieve straightforward integration with existing networks.
- Develop and document RF transmission engineering procedures, contributing to the continuous improvement of internal policies, processes, and procedures.
- Apply standard problem-solving procedures to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Act as the Design Authority (DA) in the area of RF and Broadcast Transmission, ensuring the delivery of end-to-end customer solutions for complex and less complex projects.
- Bring a commercial perspective to the operation, focusing on cash management and optimizing returns on investments in RF assets and tools.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, network engineering, and field operations, to support the deployment and optimization of RF technologies.
- Stay informed of the latest advancements in RF and broadcast transmission technologies, ensuring the application of cutting-edge solutions.
Skills:
- Broadcast Transmission Expertise: Knowledge of RF transmission systems, including signal flow/modulation, compression techniques, satellite transmission, amplification, and radio communications.
- Transmission Engineering Proficiency: Expertise in transmission engineering principles, RF system design, and performance analysis.
- RF Systems Knowledge: Experience with RF transmission systems, antennae, satellite systems, and related technologies.
- Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, present technical information clearly, and provide training or technical support.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve complex RF-related issues.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail in identifying faults, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining high standards in RF system performance.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Proven experience in RF transmission engineering, broadcast transmission, or related engineering fields.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations governing RF and broadcast transmission.
- Practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting transmitters in broadcast environments.
- A solid understanding of RF training techniques and best practices for ensuring optimal system performance.
Qualifications: A degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical
Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field is advantageous
