About ARQ

ARQ is one of the fastest-growing fintechs in the world. Our mission is to redefine how people interact with money across borders, building the infrastructure to move value seamlessly. We’re still early in our journey, which means every person who joins shapes the future of our product, culture, and growth. If you’re excited by big challenges, global impact, and the chance to grow fast with a world‑class team, ARQ is the place to do it.

What we're looking for

As a Senior DevOps Engineer on our Platform team, you'll architect, deploy, and scale cloud infrastructure that powers our global fintech platform. We're looking for an engineer who thinks like a software developer and operates like a systems architect – someone who builds infrastructure as a product, not just as configuration. You'll work with multi‑region clusters, and GitOps workflows to support microservices across retail banking, business banking, and wealth management domains. We've built a platform engineering culture focused on developer experience, type‑safe infrastructure, and intelligent automation. If you're passionate about developer productivity, infrastructure as code done right, and building robust distributed systems at scale, we'd love to talk to you.

What you'll be doing

  • Design and implement AWS infrastructure following IaC best practices
  • Build reusable libraries that enforce best practices and accelerate development
  • Manage multi‑Amazon clusters across US, EU, and Mexico
  • Deploy and manage many services such as RDS, Kafka, and Redshift
  • Build and maintain CI pipelines
  • Create reusable pipeline templates for micro‑services architecture, and containerised applications
  • Implement GitOps workflows for declarative application deployments
  • Build monitoring and alerting with tools including Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana

What you'll need

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of DevOps/Platform Engineering with deep AWS expertise
  • Strong software development background – you write code, not just config
  • Production Kubernetes experience – cluster management, container orchestration
  • Infrastructure as Code CI/CD – pipeline design, templates, runners, caching strategies
  • AWS services: EKS, RDS, MSK, S3 among others
  • Container expertise – Docker, multi‑stage builds, image optimisation

Nice to Have

  • Monorepo experience with pnpm, Turbo, or similar tools
  • Data engineering infrastructure
  • GitOps workflows experience
  • Fintech or regulated industry experience
  • Multi‑region architecture / disaster recovery
  • TypeScript expertise

What We Value

  • Systems thinking – understanding how distributed systems work end‑to‑end
  • Problem‑solving – methodical debugging of complex infrastructure issues
  • Collaboration – working with engineering teams to understand their needs
  • Documentation – clear runbooks, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing
  • Pragmatism – balancing technical excellence with practical delivery

Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Sign‑on stock options bonus
  • Discretionary performance bonus (stock options)
  • Paid annual leave
  • Own the platform that directly impacts customer experience
  • Work with modern DevOps practices and cutting‑edge technology
  • Strong team focused on continuous learning and knowledge sharing
  • Influence technical direction and architecture decisions
