Aroundtown Magazine is a popular bi‐monthly lifestyle magazine based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire covering topics such as fashion, homes and gardens, food and events, and health and beauty. We primarily support independent businesses in Rotherham, Barnsley and Sheffield to deliver high‐quality print advertising that connects with a loyal, local readership. As a free magazine, we rely solely on advertising revenue to continue producing 20,000 A4 copies, which is why we are seeking a motivated and organised advertising sales assistant to support our small, friendly team on a part‐time basis.
Role Overview
The role focuses on identifying and contacting potential advertisers, promoting print‐based advertising opportunities, and supporting the sales process from initial outreach through to advert proofing. This is an ideal role for someone with strong communication skills who is interested in media, publishing or sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify potential advertising clients aligned with the magazine's audience
- Proactively contact prospective customers via telephone and follow‐up emails
- Present advertising options, rate cards and deadlines clearly and professionally
- Follow up on inbound and outbound leads and maintain regular contact with potential advertisers
- Support the Advertising Manager/Editor with booking adverts and confirming placements
- Maintain accurate records of contacts, conversations and bookings
- Assist with administrative tasks related to advertising sales and publication schedules
Skills & Experience
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- Professional and friendly telephone manner
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook etc)
- Previous experience in sales, advertising, media or customer‐facing roles
- Interest in lifestyle media or publishing
