The production supervisor will supervise and organise the preparation and production of food in a fast-paced food production environment. You will be supervising the production team, ensuring monitoring and maintenance of high levels of food quality and packing. You will have a direct, hands-on approach to managing the team and resolving day-to-day production issues.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities (Job Duties and Tasks)
Staff Supervision
- Supervise the production team to adhere to strict food hygiene rules and ensure the daily production is delivered.
- Supervise employee training sessions on subjects such as:
- Food Hygiene and Food Safety
- Manual Handling
- Food Production processes
- Customer service improvement
Administration
- Analyse data or information identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
- Organise, plan and prioritise work developing specific goals and plans to accomplish work.
- Record, store, or maintain information in written or electronic form.
Hygiene
- Maintain acceptable personal hygiene at all times, following all company procedures.
- Comply with all food hygiene requirements and company procedures.
- Ensure all production equipment and utensils are thoroughly cleaned in compliance with company policy.
- Ensure work station is clean and sanitised.
Health and Safety
- Comply with all health and safety requirements, following company policies and procedures.
- Wear all required protective clothing, such as overalls, gloves, shoe covers, headgear, etc., in designated areas.
- Be constantly aware of any possible hazards and report these to your manager immediately.
- When using machinery, follow all safety rules and company policies and procedures regarding machine usage.
Production
- Supervise staff work schedules.
- Knowledge of company procedures and product control standards, instructing Production staff on these procedures and setting an example for the team.
- Have a knowledge of all training manuals, ensuring the production staff comply with them at all times.
- Ensure Production staff check and weigh all raw materials, ensuring accuracy.
- Ensure Production staff have all machine settings correct.
- Supervise quality checks on products produced, for example, the size and weight of the finished product, use by date, packaging.
- Ensure the Production team remove defective products.
- Ensure the working and storage areas are free of hazards as per the company’s health and safety procedures.
- Supervise Line running to ensure:
- ‘Use by Date’ stock is within date and rotated.
- All products label state: content, supplier and internal/external Use By Date.
- All products are stored according to correct company procedures and policies.
- All necessary paperwork is accurately completed.
- All products needed for production are readily available and placed in the correct areas.
- Check packaging of finished productions to ensure:
- Correct packaging has been used for product.
- Packaging not damaged.
- Packaging has been fully sealed.
- Label if required, ensuring that the correct label is applied either by labelling department or within production.
- Correct ‘use by date’ is printed on each label.
- As finished product comes off the production line, place into packaging.
- Correct packaging used for each product.
- Load packaged product into heat sealing machine.
- As product comes out of heat sealing machine:
- Correct packaging for product has been used.
- Packaging is not damaged.
- Packaging has been fully sealed.
- Correct ‘used by date’ has been printed on the packaging.
