About the role
We have a really exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Systems Engineer to join our Support team in Aberdeen! As part of your role, you will support the delivery of high-quality IT support services to users while developing technical skills and knowledge through a structured apprenticeship programme. The role combines hands-on experience with formal training, focusing on incident resolution, service request fulfilment, and customer service excellence. This is a great opportunity for someone to start their career in IT and develop themselves through training and hands-on experience within the team. Please note - as this is an apprenticeship you must be between 16-20 years old.
What you'll do
- Provide first-line IT support to end users via phone, email, portal, and in person
- Log, update, and manage incidents and service requests using ServiceNow/similar
- Perform initial diagnosis and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network issues
- Accurately categorise, prioritise, and assign tickets
- Meet agreed SLAs and support targets
- Keep users informed with clear, professional updates
- Document resolutions and actions taken
- Support Windows desktop and laptop environments
- Assist with user account management (e.g. Active Directory, Microsoft 365)
- Set up and configure devices (laptops, mobiles, peripherals)
- Support common business applications and printers
- Assist with basic network troubleshooting (connectivity, VPN, Wi-Fi)
- Create and update knowledge base articles
- Follow documented processes and best practices
- Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
- Complete all required apprenticeship training and assessments
- Apply learning to day-to-day support activities
- Work towards relevant IT certifications where applicable
- Demonstrate progress against learning objectives
