About The Role
We are looking for a motivated Public Sector Account Manager to join our team at ARO. In this role, you will focus on expanding ARO's footprint within the public sector market by developing and managing SME-level public sector clients. You will work closely with public sector clients to understand their unique needs, enabling you to propose tailored technology solutions that improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
Your expertise will cover a broad portfolio of IT services including cloud solutions, nextâgeneration networking, cybersecurity, connectivity, managed services, and sustainable technologies designed for the public sector. This position requires building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, government departments, educational institutions, and healthcare organisations. You will coordinate with internal teams and external partners to deliver solutions aligned with public sector compliance requirements and budgetary constraints.
The ideal candidate will have experience in public sector sales, a good understanding of public procurement processes, and the ability to navigate complex tendering activities. Success in this role requires a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering longâterm partnerships with public sector clients. Please note that this role will require attendance in our Cardiff office and consistent travel to client sites. You must be able to commute to the office and have your own transport.
What You'll Do
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract negotiation and closing
- Develop account plans that align with client needs
- Lead tender and proposal processes ensuring adherence to public procurement regulations
- Keep up to date with changes in public sector technology trends and compliance requirements
- Efficiently gather requirements from prospective and current accounts to produce a solution that meets their needs
- Develop longâterm working relationships with prospective and existing customer accounts
- Work in partnership with various teams within ARO to ensure customer satisfaction
- Arrange and attend customer meetings with SME accounts regularly
- Work towards KPI and targets on a daily basis
- Provide accurate and timely information, forecasts and reports to management
- Respond promptly to client queries and coordinate internal resources to resolve issues
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and account activity
- Escalate risks, commercial concerns or service issues to management in a timely manner
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in an account management role in IT solutions or technology
- Knowledge of IT solutions, trends and technology with a key focus on public sector requirements
- Strong analytical and problemâsolving abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client relationship building
- A high level of computer literacy, including the use of cloud CRMS and internal IT systems
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to sites on a regular basis
- Demonstrated success in managing complex sales cycles and tender processes
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Selfâmotivated with a resultsâdriven approach
