About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Newly Qualified or Passed Finalist Accountant to join our finance team in our key finance location in Liverpool as a Senior Management Accountant. Working within a dynamic and fast‑paced finance function, you will take ownership of reporting and management accounting for the ARO Finance team. You will primarily support the Group Financial Controller by delivering insightful analysis, accurate reporting, and by providing proactive financial support to drive performance across the business. This role combines core management accounting with advanced analytics to enable strategic decision‑making. You will be leading a team of four direct reports each looking after 1-2 departments within the business. This is a great opportunity to develop your experience, and we will support you with completing your professional finance qualification. Realistic progression opportunities available also. Please note that this is a Hybrid role with onsite requirement 3 days a week. You must be able to commute to the office and have your own transport.

What you’ll do

  • Management of the end‑to‑end monthly financial close process, preparation of internal management reporting (actuals vs budget).
  • Directly manage a team of four Management Accountants.
  • Deliver variance analysis with actionable insights for multiple senior stakeholders.
  • Business Partner with Business Unit (BU) Leads, Operational and Sales teams to understand performance drivers, identify improvement opportunities & highlight areas of risk.
  • Support year‑end accounts and audit processes.
  • Respond to ad‑hoc financial enquiries by gathering and interpreting data.
  • Drive process automation and reporting enhancements using BI tools.
  • Contribute to strategic projects, including scenario planning and investment appraisal.
  • Assist with the implementation and testing of the new finance system (Dynamics).
  • Ensure adequate focus on both personal and career development for both yourself and the team.

Essential qualifications

  • Newly Qualified or Passed Finalist (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with 3‑5 years’ industry experience.
  • Line management experience.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to summarise and portray the wider story.
  • Advanced Excel and experience with BI tools (Power BI).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Good level of organisational skills and ability to forward plan and take initiative.

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience with external audit planning & delivery and reporting under UK GAAP with IFRS awareness.
  • Experience with internal finance projects.
  • Dynamics (F&O) and Dynamics BI Reporting.
