Love nature, heritage, and working with people?
We're looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our small, dedicated team. If you take pride in your work, enjoy meeting people, and love keeping unique spaces looking their best, we'd love to hear from you.
Contract: Permanent
Working hours: 22.5 hours per week, Thu - Sat. Some working outside of normal hours, including travel, may be required.
What You'll Do
As one of our Caretakers, you'll:
- Work independently and with colleagues to clean and maintain our beautiful, historic buildings to a high standard.
- Provide excellent service to venue hirers and visitors.
- Take on a variety of practical maintenance tasks with care and attention to detail.
- Support other site operations, including cemetery-related duties and assisting with events.
- Be part of a small, supportive team helping to care for four listed buildings, ensuring they remain welcoming and well-preserved for everyone to enjoy.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Active, adaptable, and hands-on, with a can-do attitude.
- Proud of their work, even when tasks are regular or repetitive.
- Curious about heritage sites and interested in how historic buildings are cared for.
- Friendly and approachable, comfortable working around visitors and the public.
We have a unique model of operation - while still a working cemetery, we balance visitor access with nature and heritage, inspiring people through our public engagement programme. To support our charitable objectives, we run income-generating events for visitors, operate an in-house café, shop, offer venue hire and weddings. As well as hosting a variety of events throughout the year, we are also a popular filming location. As a charity, it is essential that we generate income to protect and enhance this special place to ensure it is here for future generations.
