Role Overview: As a Senior Electrical Technician & Panel Wirer, you will play a key role in the manufacturing team, executing high-level electrical wiring, panel assembly, and testing for commercial refrigeration cabinets. Working from detailed engineering schematics, you will ensure all electrical control systems, external cabling, and components are installed to exact specifications, fully tested, and compliant with current regulations, with long-term potential for career progression within the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Wiring & Integration: Read and interpret complex electrical schematics to build, wire, and fit control panels, temperature controllers, sensors, and external cabling into commercial refrigeration cabinets.
- Functional Testing & Inspection: Conduct point-to-point wiring checks, inline component inspections, and rigorous electrical safety and functional testing on completed refrigeration units before sign-off.
- Diagnostics & Fault Finding: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical issues or operational defects within control circuits, panels, and cabinet systems.
- Compliance & QA: Guarantee that all wiring, terminations, and assemblies meet standards, internal Quality Assurance checks, and health and safety requirements.
- Process Excellence: Operate assembly tools, and process equipment efficiently while completing all necessary QA documentation and compliance paperwork.
- Technical Quality: Maintain high standards of workmanship across production lines, providing reliable technical expertise to ensure product performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Technical Expertise: Proven background in panel wiring, crimping, cable fabrication, point-to-point terminations, and electrical testing protocols.
- Key Skills: Excellent reading of mechanical/electrical drawings, manual dexterity, strong diagnostic ability, and the drive to take on higher technical responsibility over time.
- Required Qualifications: City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installation / Electrotechnical Technology (or equivalent) and 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification. (Desirable)
- Industry Experience: Strong experience in a manufacturing or assembly line environment, working with commercial refrigeration units, HVAC systems, or similar cooling equipment. (Desirable)
