We have a fantastic opportunity for a VAT & Indirect Tax Manager to join our Tax Consultancy service line. The successful candidate may be based at any of our offices including Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester.

The Role

  • Supporting the VAT and Indirect Tax Senior Manager in delivering complex VAT advisory projects.
  • Leading on own portfolio of VAT advisory projects and dealing with ad hoc queries from the wider business.
  • Identifying planning and advisory opportunities from client portfolio.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation, case law and guidance relevant to your area of tax and identify potential issues / opportunities.
  • Manage workload to agreed timescales, effectively managing expectations of Senior Manager / Partners.
  • Monitoring the status of each project and reporting variances to budgeted fees/ time costs or potential areas that may affect the budgets and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Build, develop and maintain a network of business partners/ intermediaries to ensure the profile of Armstrong Watson is positive in the marketplace.
  • Supporting the VAT & Indirect Tax Senior Manager in targeting and identifying business development opportunities.

The Candidate

  • Focussed and have a driven attitude to grow the firm’s VAT advisory offering.
  • Technically strong and have at least 5 years previous experience working in a VAT advisory role advising across a range of sectors.
  • Commercial and able to manage / help others in the team achieve success.
  • Approachable and able to manage / help others in the team achieve success.
