Park Veterinary Group | Pontypridd, South Wales

Salary up to £52,000 FTE (depending on experience and qualifications)

A fantastic opportunity to take your first step into veterinary leadership!

Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon ready to take the next step in your career?

Do you have an interest in leadership, team development and helping shape the future of a practice?

At Park Veterinary Group, we're looking for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our Pontypridd branch. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to develop their leadership skills, take ownership of a smaller branch and make a real difference to the team, while remaining hands-on clinically.

With a 36-hour working week, no weekends and no out-of-hours, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to grow into leadership while maintaining a great work-life balance.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for someone looking to take their first steps into a leadership position, with the support of a much larger, established practice team behind them.

You'll take the lead at our Pontypridd branch, working closely with a small team of 2 Veterinary Surgeons and 2 Nurses. Your focus will be on the day-to-day running of the branch, supporting your colleagues, maintaining excellent patient and client care, and helping create a positive and supportive working environment.

Although you'll have responsibility for your own branch, you'll never be working in isolation. You'll be part of the wider Park Veterinary Group team, with support from our management team and colleagues across all our branches.

About Park Veterinary Group

We're proud of the team we've built at Park Veterinary Group. Across our branches, we have a team of approximately 65 colleagues, including 18 FTE Veterinary Surgeons and 18 FTE Nurses, alongside our Receptionists, Practice Managers and wider support colleagues.

Our wider clinical team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, including several certificate holders across both Veterinary Surgeons and RVNs.

We're also a genuinely sociable and supportive team who enjoy spending time together outside of work. From team dog walks to regular get-togethers, there's a real sense of friendship and connection across the practice. We look out for one another, celebrate successes together and believe that feeling supported and valued is just as important as enjoying the work we do.

We believe in supporting our colleagues to develop and achieve their career ambitions. Further qualifications and CPD are actively encouraged, and as part of the VetPartners family, we benefit from a wider network of experienced clinicians and support through many channels, including the Clinical Board.

Hear From Our Team

"Park Vets has been an incredibly supportive environment, the perfect place for me to learn and grow as a vet. The team is wonderful with a great breadth of skills and experience, and I've always felt the facilities are excellent compared to other practices I've seen. I first came here for work experience, returned as a new grad, and don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon."

The Area

Pontypridd and the surrounding Cardiff area offer a fantastic balance of city living and outdoor adventure.

You’ll have easy access to Cardiff's fantastic restaurants, independent shops, events and attractions, while also being within easy reach of the beautiful Brecon Beacons and the stunning South Wales coastline.

Whether you enjoy city life, exploring the outdoors or making the most of your weekends, there’s plenty to enjoy on your doorstep.

What We're Looking For

  • Is passionate about delivering excellent patient and client care
  • Has an interest in leadership and is keen to develop their management skills
  • Enjoys supporting, motivating and developing colleagues
  • Wants to play a key role in shaping and embedding a positive practice culture, including our Just Culture principles
  • Has an interest in the business and strategic side of veterinary practice
  • Is a collaborative team player who enjoys being part of a wider practice community

Previous leadership experience isn't essential. We're particularly interested in someone with the enthusiasm and ambition to develop into this role, with the right support around them.

  • Leading and supporting the branch team, working alongside the wider Practice Management team.
