Are you an experienced RVN ready to step into a more senior role? We’re looking for a motivated Deputy Head Nurse to support the leadership of our nursing team and help drive clinical excellence across the practice.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills while remaining hands‑on in a varied and rewarding clinical role.

About Us:

We are a busy RCVS accredited first opinion hospital that offers fantastic facilities such as US scanner, digital x-ray, in‑house lab, CT scanner, laparoscopy equipment and much more.

You’ll join our large, supportive team of experienced vets, nurses and receptionists delivering outstanding veterinary care.

The Role:

  • Permanent, full-time 37.5 hours per week worked over 4 or 5 days
  • Shifts between 7am-10pm
  • NO OOH! We have a fantastic OOH team, but you may be required to help as needed.
  • 1-2 BH’s per year

Salary £30,000 - £34,000 depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the Head Nurse in the day-to-day running of the practice, including kennels and prep
  • Leading and mentoring the ACA team, ensuring high standards of care
  • Working closely with vets and the wider practice team to deliver excellent patient outcomes
  • Helping maintain and develop clinical protocols, patient care standards, and infection control
  • Supporting stock control, equipment maintenance, and operational efficiency
  • Assisting with rota management and team coordination in the absence of the Head Nurse
  • Playing an active role in clinical governance, audits, and PSS compliance
  • Coaching and supporting Student Nurses and clinical coaches
  • Opportunity to get involved in advanced services such as CT (training available)

You’ll be supported in developing your leadership skills, encouraged in your CPD, and given the opportunity to shape nursing standards within a progressive, supportive practice.
