Veterinary Surgeon | Park Veterinary Group | Cardiff & Surrounding Areas
Salary up to £43,000 FTE (depending on experience and qualifications)
A supportive team • Varied caseload • Great opportunities to develop
Are you a Veterinary Surgeon in the early stages of your career, feeling confident with consultations and keen to continue developing your surgical skills?
At Park Veterinary Group, we're looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team across our 3 sites in and around Cardiff.
Whether you're a recently qualified vet looking to build on your experience or have a little more time under your belt, we're interested in someone who is enthusiastic, approachable and keen to continue learning.
We know that the early years of your veterinary career are important. That's why we want to provide an environment where you can grow in confidence, develop your clinical skills and feel supported every step of the way.
The Role
This is a varied role working across all 3 of our Park Veterinary Group sites, giving you exposure to a broad range of first-opinion small animal practice.
You'll enjoy a mixture of consulting, surgical and inpatient work, with the opportunity to develop your clinical experience alongside our experienced team.
The details:
- 40 hours per week
- Four-day working week
- Saturday rota: 1 in 4, 8:30am–5:00pm
- No out-of-hours work or Bank Holidays
- 20-minute consultations as standard
- Dedicated admin time built into your working day
- Protected lunch breaks – because we believe they’re essential, not optional!
You'll work across our 3 branches, supported by experienced colleagues and a clinical management team who are always on hand to help.
Developing Your Clinical Skills
We appreciate that every vet develops at their own pace, and we're keen to support you in building confidence across all areas of general practice.
You'll ideally be comfortable managing routine consultations and have had some exposure to surgical procedures. We're not expecting you to know everything - what matters is that you're enthusiastic, willing to learn and keen to develop your skills further.
Our team will be there to support you, encourage your development and help you gain experience in the areas you'd like to progress in.
As a long-standing, established practice, we have a culture based on Quality Improvement and evidence-based medicine. We pride ourselves on a structured approach to the working day, with clinical support and management available throughout.
Modern Kit? Of Course!
We won't bore you with a long list of equipment, but as a modern, first-opinion small animal practice, we have all the facilities and equipment you'd expect to support you in delivering excellent patient care.
If you'd like to know more about our facilities and how we work across our sites, just ask!
Who Are We Looking For?
We're looking for someone who:
- Is a qualified Veterinary Surgeon registered with the RCVS
- Has gained some experience in first-opinion small animal practice
- Feels comfortable carrying out routine consultations
- Has had exposure to surgery and is keen to continue developing their surgical skills
- Has good communication skills and enjoys building relationships with clients
- Is approachable, enthusiastic and enjoys working as part of a team
- Is keen to learn, develop and make the most of opportunities to progress
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a supportive team and wants to deliver great care to their patients and clients.
