This is an office based, electrical engineer and operational role, bridging design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring that our data centre electrical infrastructure meets the highest standards.
The Electrical Operations Engineer will:
- Oversee the execution of electrical designs from contractors and design engineers.
- Ensure systems are installed, commissioned, and handed over according to specification.
- Act as a technical and operational interface between design teams, contractors, and operations.
- Support safe and reliable operation of critical electrical infrastructure.
This is a construction and operations-heavy role, ideal for engineers who enjoy seeing designs come to life and ensuring they function in a real-world operational environment.
Essential
- Qualified Electrical Engineer (BEng/MEng, HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering).
- Strong experience in data centre, industrial, or critical infrastructure operations.
- Hands-on experience with electrical systems, commissioning, and site operations.
- Knowledge of electrical safety, compliance, and testing procedures.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Experience with UPS, LV/HV systems, switchgear, and power distribution in data centres.
- Understanding of PUE, energy efficiency, and operational KPIs.
- Experience in construction oversight and contractor management.
- Chartered status or professional membership (IET, EngTech, or similar).
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight
- Monitor electrical installation works against design drawings and specifications.
- Conduct site inspections and verify quality, compliance, and safety of installations.
- Coordinate with contractors and design engineers to resolve issues quickly.
- Support commissioning, testing, and handover of electrical systems.
- Systems & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to UK electrical regulations, standards, and best practice.
- Maintain documentation and records of inspections, tests, and compliance checks.
- Assist with operational procedures and maintenance planning.
- Collaboration & Reporting
- Act as the main point of contact for electrical systems between operations, construction, and design teams.
- Report progress, issues, and recommendations to the Head of Engineering.
- Participate in meetings to support project milestones and operational readiness.
