We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer with strong experience in data centre or critical infrastructure design, operations, or build environments to join our engineering team. The role provides technical leadership and assurance across all electrical systems supporting mission-critical operations.

The Electrical Engineer will act as a technical expert within the engineering function, providing design, assurance, and operational support for electrical systems across our data centre portfolio. You will play a key role in the design and development of new data centre builds and infrastructure upgrades, while ensuring that live operational environments continue to meet the highest standards of safety, resilience, and performance. This role is ideally suited to an engineer who combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to influence, advise, and support operational teams within a high-availability setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or contribute to the design and specification of electrical systems for data centre and critical infrastructure projects, including HV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, and switchgear.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, good practice and the engineering and sustainability standards.
  • Provide design reviews, technical validation, and assurance for new builds, refurbishments, and capacity upgrades.
  • Act as a technical authority supporting data centre operations and maintenance teams.
  • Provide engineering input for maintenance strategies, operational planning, and incident investigation.
  • Ensure operational procedures and change management processes reflect best practice in electrical safety, resilience, and reliability.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and acceptance of new electrical systems.
  • Ensure all electrical activities align with statutory regulations, internal safety policies, and ISO management frameworks.
  • Maintain technical documentation, single-line diagrams, and asset records to a high standard.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of electrical systems.
  • Support long-term infrastructure planning, capacity modelling, and energy efficiency strategies.
  • Share knowledge and mentor junior engineers or technicians within the team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum HND in Electrical Engineering (or higher).
  • Proven experience in data centre or critical infrastructure environments, encompassing design, build, or operational engineering.
  • Strong understanding of critical power systems - UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, and power distribution networks.
  • Working knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and related standards.
  • Experience providing technical guidance or design assurance for live operational facilities or construction projects.
  • Ability to review and interpret electrical designs, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Desirable: Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience with HV systems (11kV/33kV) operation or design.
  • Familiarity with BMS, EPMS, and CMMS systems.
  • Understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability principles within data centre operations.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards professional registration.
