Overview
The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Manager to ensure a high level of service and quality work is delivered to a varied and interesting client base.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and completion of statutory accounts, year-end accounts and rental accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
- Dealing with a varied client portfolio (T/O up to £2 million) including OMBs, property investors, property developers, agricultural, retail etc.
- Preparation of corporation tax returns and personal tax returns.
- Preparation of monthly or quarterly management accounts including forecasting and budgeting.
- Provide task support to fellow team members, sharing knowledge and providing guidance.
- Liaising with internal and/or third party external outsourcing.
- Finalising accounts under the overall control of the Manager.
- Organise your flow of work, allocating your assignments and managing your time as necessary taking into consideration your client deadlines and other constraints.
- Ensure work is completed within agreed time and budget.
- Liaise with third parties as required (HMRC, mortgage brokers, other members of your team, payroll bureau, etc).
- Develop and maintain effective client relationships, including attending client premises as required and client meetings.
- Dealing with general incoming client queries and escalating when required.
- Identify cross selling opportunities.
- Opportunity to be involved in ad-hoc client projects.
Qualifications
- AAT qualified or Qualified by experience.
- At least 5 years of experience gained in a practice setting.
- Up to date statutory accounts knowledge and sound accounting, corporate/personal tax and VAT technical knowledge is required.
- Experience of preparing management accounts (to include forecasting and budgeting).
- Must possess a client focused attitude and have proven experience of building and maintaining relationships with clients.
- Experience of working with a variety of clients.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Xero, SAGE, IRIS, QuickBooks and FreeAgent.
