Our client, a multi‑faceted group of businesses with an extensive property portfolio, currently has an exciting opportunity for an Infrastructure Engineer. The IT team comprises around 12 employees, and the role will require you to work alongside the CTO with a degree of autonomy.
The purpose of this role is to develop, maintain and provide technical support for the firm’s IT infrastructure and related solutions, as well as leading technical work streams of projects to implement new or upgrade existing infrastructure solutions. Growing awareness and understanding of related systems and technical architecture is a key part of the role. The successful candidate will impart expertise and provide processes for others to operate to maintain solutions in their optimum condition, and will collaborate with team members on global IT initiatives that impact infrastructure, applications, desktop and information security.
Responsibilities
- Own, develop, and maintain the firm’s global server platform and infrastructure architecture
- Ensure stable and optimal operations using VMware, Active Directory, Cisco Meraki
- Lead the analysis, design, planning, implementation and optimization of related projects
- Collaborate with IT colleagues and the wider business to support strategic business and IT initiatives
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Interact with vendors as appropriate to deliver solutions or fix issues
- Be involved in infrastructure security audits as appropriate
- Proactively maintain build and patch levels for operating systems and applications
- Contribute to budgeting and accounting processes to maintain and evolve systems responsibly and innovatively
- Provide general 3rd line infrastructure support in-line with the Firm’s needs and the remit of the team
- Provide presence and cover within standard working hours and be flexible for work outside normal hours
- Ability to cover out-of-hours (on-call) support on a rota basis
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Server application configuration (e.g., GPO, AD, patching, server builds)
- Good knowledge of server management tools with evidence of technical leadership in areas including Active Directory, Commvault, VMware, Microsoft Windows Server Technologies, Shavlik, Office 365, DigiCert, Citrix
- Flexibility to travel and work with global teams
- Ability to work out of hours to lead or support system implementation initiatives or outages
- Service-focused attitude and professional manner
- Confident and clear communication (verbal and written)
- Proactive, hardworking, organized, able to structure own work and work solo when required
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to respond quickly to requests
- Experience in end-to-end implementation of virtual infrastructure solutions (build, deployment, maintenance)
- Experience in applications (preferable but not essential) such as EoL Exchange, SharePoint, PowerShell
- Significant prior experience in a legal or professional services environment
- Exceptional 3rd line technical support skills for virtual servers with effective troubleshooting
- Experience aligning technology solutions with best practices and IT security policies
- Good knowledge of Cisco/WAN/LAN technologies
- Knowledge of SharePoint is desirable
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure management and security compliance
- Strong expertise in virtualization, directory services, and enterprise networking
- Experience supporting and improving information security posture
- Demonstrated ability to work with global teams and stakeholders
- Willingness to travel and participate in out-of-hours support as required
