We are currently working with a top 30 Accountancy practice who are looking to hire an experienced Bookkeeper for a part time opportunity in their office based near Ely. This role would be ideal for an experienced bookkeeper who is looking to gain some large company experience but also work on a part time basis.
Your duties will include but may not be limited to:
- Maintaining the books and records of clients and producing accounts up to a trial balance position.
- Demonstrating commercial awareness and taking responsibility for monitoring assignment budgets/recovery.
- Dealing with the majority of queries and discussing these with clients, suggesting sensible conclusions, whilst also showing initiative in clearing more complex queries.
- Identifying queries that are more complex for referral to the assignment supervisor and making sensible suggestions as to the action to be taken.
- Preparing VAT returns and assisting more junior team members prepare returns.
- Adhering to compliance procedures: following instructions, making clear notes and following outlined procedures.
- Ensuring organisation and ability to work with minimal supervision: self-motivated.
- Adequately dealing with a varied workload: proving flexibility in skill range.
- Starting to scope assignments and identify opportunities for delegation.
- Demonstrating relevant software to new trainees.
- Helping to train junior trainees with basic job instructions.
- Keeping team leader informed of assignment progress and/or problems.
- Continuing to seek help and support with queries beyond current knowledge or competence.
- Continuing to seek additional tasks to broaden knowledge and experience.
- Showing an interest in the factors important to clients’ businesses.
- Making suggestions to team leader for improvements to clients’ systems and procedures.
- Being confident and professional in dealing with client queries and seeking information from clients or clients’ staff.
- Being relied upon to talk to team colleagues professionally and being an established office team player.
To be considered for this role you will need:
- To be AAT part/fully qualified or qualified by experience.
- To have good telephone manner, email communication skills and customer service levels.
- Excellent IT skills, knowledge of cloud based accountancy software a significant advantage.
- To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
