Role Overview
The Fire Sales Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting customers and the sales team by providing technically sound, value-added solutions centered around the company’s Fire product offerings. This is a collaborative, team-based role that requires strong communication, engineering acumen, and problem-solving capabilities. The position supports pre and post sales activities, offers technical consultancy, and contributes to strategic initiatives and product development.
Key Accountabilities
- Create new sales quotes for the Fire sales team in UK and Ireland.
- Take ownership of resolving technical customer issues and provide consultative support.
- Participate in customer visits and technical presentations.
- Gather and report customer feedback to drive service improvements.
- Track and maintain customer and competitor data to support agile business responses.
- Triage early-stage enquiries to assess opportunities.
Documentation & Process Development
- Maintain technical documentation and support the continuous development of selection software.
- Ensure consistent documentation and communication across the team.
- Support the development of internal procedures and best practices.
Strategic & Leadership Support
- Collect data and insights for reporting to senior leadership.
- Contribute to special projects as required.
Grow aftermarket revenue
- Create spare parts quotes for UK and Ireland.
- Collaborate with sales team, customer service, partners and parts strategy.
- Identify and follow purchase patterns of specific items by reps/end customers.
- Provide Aftermarket forecast analysis on all serviceable parts.
- Same day response to customers and maintain zero backlog.
- Transform inquiries into suggested part kits.
- Educate customers on carrying spare parts for preventive & predictive maintenance scheme.
- Provide ownership to closure for the raised tickets, document resolved incidents and share for improvements.
Business Goals
- Support Fire Sales team to achieve sales plan targets in UK£ value.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
Education and Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Previous work experience in engineering/manufacturing within an industrial environment.
- Experience in sales or technical service roles within Fire or pump-related industries.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of Fire systems and the ability to interpret technical specifications and schematics.
- Proficiency in pump selection software (preferably Armstrong or similar tools).
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; capable of root cause analysis.
Soft Skills
- Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset.
- Self-motivated, action-oriented, and capable of working independently or in teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
