As part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) was established on April 1, 2018, to deliver the public school programme focusing on supporting student learning, achievement, well-being and overall success. The SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students; and approximately 375 children are attending pre-primary programmes at 14 school locations. Located in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia, the SRCE’s jurisdiction encompasses the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness and Richmond, an area of approximately 11,000 square kilometres with a population of 53,742 (Census 2021).
Teachers who are hired or recalled into new positions will be required to participate in a New Teacher training if they have not already done so.

Essential Qualifications:
- Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia;
- Degree in Music and/or band experience or experience teaching Music;
- Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition;
- Excellent classroom and student management skills;
- Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning;
- Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies;
- Knowledge of inter-disciplinary planning is a requirement.
