Arla Foods are looking to recruit a proficient and thorough Laboratory Assistant to join our team at our Westbury Dairy on a full time and permanent basis.
Our Westbury site is the largest butter and powder facility in the UK as well as being the home of Anchor butter!
This role involves working a rotating 12-hour shift pattern, including both early and late shifts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
As a Laboratory Assistant you’ll play a key role within the site QEHS team, ensuring that all products packed onsite are produced to the highest standards of food safety and quality.
Based in the laboratory, your key responsibilities will include conducting testing to analyse finished products and materials in line with accredited standards, methods, approved equipment, and working practices. You will be interpreting and analysing results, reporting findings clearly and escalating any non-conformance issues as required. It is essential you ensure laboratory instrumentation is functioning correctly, with all methods calibrated and verified. You will be maintaining laboratory documentation and SAP systems in line with accreditation standards
Who are you?
- A strong understanding of microbiology and/or chemistry laboratory environments
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline or experience working within a lab-based role
- Good numeracy and literacy skills, with strong verbal and written communication
- Experience within the food industry is desirable but not essential

- Builds strong working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders
- Has strong attention to detail and good IT skills (SAP experience would be advantageous
