Overview
As a Despatch Operative you will move finished product from the production area into refrigerated storage, and perform cold store duties including order picking, physical inventory, loading and housekeeping tasks. You will monitor equipment performance, carry out basic maintenance and fault diagnosis, and support safety and hygiene standards.
Responsibilities
- Move finished product from the production area into refrigerated storage.
- Complete all cold store functions including order picking, physical inventory, loading and housekeeping duties.
- Load and unload vehicles, operate pallet trucks and complete necessary paperwork.
- Monitor equipment performance and address issues before they become problems; perform basic maintenance tasks and fault diagnosis.
- Support and maintain safety and hygiene standards.
- Prioritise tasks effectively, communicate clearly, and participate in regular department meetings.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience in warehousing or a cold store environment is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a timely and organised manner.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene; training will be provided.
- A motivated team player who can also use own initiative.
- A reliable attendance record and willingness to learn further skills.

- Our Stourton Dairy/Creamery was opened in 2004 and produces milk, creams, custards and cottage cheese.
- We create 225 SKUs across 16 filling lines and 11 pasteurisers.
- The daily raw milk intake at Stourton is 2.2 million litres.
- The site has around 900 staff members with long-tenured process colleagues.
