How you will make an impact
As a Multiskilled Area Technician, you will support a well‑invested, high‑volume food manufacturing site, ensuring equipment reliability, safety and performance across a wide range of process and packing technologies. Working Monday-Friday you will be a key contributor to site performance, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Carry out first‑line reactive, proactive and planned maintenance across our powder and butter production equipment with a strong focus on our driers.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and controls faults in a fast‑paced environment.
- Use CMMS systems to record work completed and support maintenance reporting.
- Support and lead improvement activities, including non‑capex modifications, capex projects, OEE and throughput initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with production, engineering and site services teams to maintain safe and efficient operations.
The role sits within the Engineering function at Arla’s Westbury site and reports into the Site Engineering team.
What will make you successful
To succeed in this role, you will be a motivated engineer with a strong technical foundation and a pragmatic, hands‑on approach to problem solving. You will have proven experience as a Multiskilled, Maintenance or Shift Engineer within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, supported by a time‑served apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent practical experience.
- You bring strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding capability, with true multiskilled experience highly desirable.
- You are comfortable working with automated machinery such as conveyors, pumps, valves, inverter drives, sensors, relays and PLCs (ideally Siemens), and have exposure to site services including steam generation, chilled water systems, compressors, CIP and utility plants.
- You are also confident using SAP, CMMS, SCADA, HMIs and Microsoft Office tools.
Personally, you bring a strong sense of ownership and pride in your work, a natural curiosity and drive to continuously improve equipment and processes, and a collaborative mindset, working effectively with colleagues across shifts and functions.
