Hygiene & Hand stacking operator – Arla Foods Ingredients, Taw Valley
Location: Devon, GB
We’re one of the world’s biggest dairy producers. Join our team in production making world class permeate powder, and you\’ll contribute to making food that is loved by millions.
AFI Taw Valley produces 18000 tons of permeate powder and 4000 tons of whey protein concentrate using membrane, evaporator and drying technology. Our customers use the products as ingredients in foods and dry blend products, and therefore have high demands for quality, hygiene and food safety standards. Our whey raw material comes from award winning cheddar cheese made here at Taw valley.
The hygiene and hand stacking operator role will involve a shift pattern of 4 days on 4 days off shift basis (days only, 06:00-18:00). 26.5 days holiday per year.
The role’s main responsibilities will be:
Specific tasks:
- Stacking of 25kg bags using a vacuum lifter to prepare & dispatch pallets of demineralized ‘dry blend’ permeate powder to the expected quality standards.
- As a Hygiene Operator, you will work be working to a cleaning schedule to ensure our high care areas meet strict standards of hygiene at all times.
- Perform scheduled daily cleaning tasks, but also use own initiative to complete additional cleaning tasks to strive for continuous improvement of standards.
- Record & Report Process Deviations to the Team Leader, especially relating to hygiene standards.
- Make suggestions on how hygiene standards can be improved by engineering out common deviations.
- Contribute to daily review meetings, problems solves and other CI activities in order to drive improvement.
- Maintain a safe working environment by raising near misses, risk observations, environmental observations and behavioral safety observations.
- Contribute to completion of risk assessments and standard operating procedures.
- Complete mandatory and job required training courses so that skills are kept up to date.
- Deliver Objectives set out in annual Dialogue reviews.
Essential job required training:
- Use of vacuum lifter
- Automated floor scrubber
- Food Safety level 2 with HACCP.
- Daily log sheet completion
- Standard operating procedures
Preferred/optional training:
- Fork lift truck training (counter balance)
- First aid
- Ability to self-motivate and take responsibility for own tasks.
- Ability to work in an organized and methodical manner, following company procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment towards production requirements.
- Key safe behaviors, see it, sort it, report it.
- Good communication skills and able to form good working relationships
- Good numeracy and literacy
