We work on a broad range of projects mainly within central Scotland at all work stages with a focus on bespoke residential schemes, one-off houses and private domestic projects.
We are seeking either a Part 2 Architectural Assistant with demonstrable technical experience or a recently qualified, post Part 3 Architect to support our current team of four in the delivery of a variety of interesting projects, with a particular focus on housing.
As an eligible candidate you should:
- Be capable of crafting robust and refined details and be able to apply your design training to distil both a client’s brief and the requirements of the Technical Standards into elegant solutions.
- Enjoy working in a collaborative and supportive environment and feel comfortable in discussing solutions with the rest of the team.
- Be confident in having full ownership of the majority of your projects at all stages and understand how to steer them through the regulatory and procurement processes.
- Have a good working knowledge of both planning policies and building regulations within a Scottish context.
- Have good written, verbal and graphic communication skills, which will be essential in your personal interactions with Clients, Planning Officers, Building Control Officers and Contractors.
- Be able to think creatively and laterally to deliver interesting solutions across a range of scales, expecting every day to be a little different!
- Enjoy the idea of working in the modern conversion of an old, listed church in the centre of town (10 minutes from either of Falkirk’s railway stations).
- A good working knowledge of Vectorworks is preferable and skill in presentation software such as Adobe Suite and Sketch-Up is expected, but the full range of your current software skills and experience should be highlighted in your CV and would form part of any more detailed discussions.
- Experience in preparing detailed drawings, specifications and construction documents with strong organisational skills and an attention to detail are all key skills that you will be expected to use every day.
Salary will be competitive, based on experience, and assistance can be given to Part 3 candidates with both examination fees and study leave.
