About the role
We are seeking a passionate and driven Science Teacher to join Ark Evelyn Grace Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent classroom practitioner to deliver high-quality teaching while taking on additional responsibility for laboratory oversight. You will play a key role in delivering an ambitious, knowledge-rich curriculum that enables all students to achieve excellent outcomes, while contributing to a strong culture of high expectations and academic excellence. Alongside teaching, you will ensure the effective day-to-day running of our science laboratories, supporting safe, engaging and well-resourced practical learning.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, well-structured and differentiated science lessons
- Inspire students to achieve excellent progress and attainment
- Use data effectively to inform teaching, intervention and feedback
- Deliver high-quality practical science lessons safely and effectively
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and a positive learning environment
Tutor and school culture
- Act as a form tutor, supporting students’ personal and academic development
- Promote high expectations around attendance, punctuality, uniform and behaviour
- Build strong relationships with students, families and colleagues
- Contribute to a culture of achievement, respect and inclusion
Laboratory oversight
- Oversee the daily organisation and preparation of science laboratories
- Ensure safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and equipment
- Maintain equipment and monitor stock levels, ordering as required
- Carry out and maintain risk assessments for practical activities
- Promote best practice in laboratory safety across the department
- Support colleagues in planning and delivering practical lessons
- Contribute to enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs and science events
