About The Role

Are you a passionate English teacher or experienced primary school teacher eager to make a meaningful impact? We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team at Ark Greenwich Free School, dedicated to supporting our most vulnerable students who are not yet secondary ready in terms of their literacy.

In this role, you will work with students who are reading three or more years below their chronological age. You will collaborate with the English team to provide targeted interventions for our most vulnerable students. A candidate from a primary background who is flexible to deliver Maths/numeracy interventions and SEND-specific interventions (such as social skills or life skills) would also be suitable.

For the right candidate a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) is available to take a leadership role within our SEND team as Deputy SENCo.

At Ark Greenwich, we believe in making bold decisions to support every child. By integrating a primary educator into our secondary environment, we are committed to delivering small-group instruction to help students rapidly close the reading and numeracy gap. This is more than a teaching role; it is an opportunity to close the disadvantage gap and transform lives.

Join us in our mission to ensure that all our scholars have the chance to succeed and reach their full potential. If you are ready to embrace this challenge, we want to hear from you!

Benefits

  • Salaries 2.5% higher than main pay scale.
  • Twice as many training days as standard.
  • Generous pension scheme.
  • Access to Ark rewards – savings from over 3,000 major retailers
  • Interest-free loans – up to £5,000 for season tickets or to buy a bicycle.
  • Gym discounts – up to 40%.
  • Access to Employee Assistance Programme – free, confidential counselling and support.

  • Scholars have high-quality behaviour and routines that enable teachers to focus on planning and delivering excellent lessons.
  • We maintain a traditional, academic curriculum and do not offer equivalencies such as BTECs or VCerts.
  • We emphasise weekly high-quality training, coaching for rapid progress, and live coaching and current best practice in education.
