Founding Engineer (Full Stack) - Digital estate planning wealthtech
Location: UK-based, remote-first (with occasional London meet-ups)
Compensation: Founding equity + pre-seed salary
Start: Immediate
About Inheritly
Inheritly is rethinking how families prepare for “death and taxes.” Our mission is to help households and advisers plan confidently for life’s inevitable moments - with less stress, lower costs, and better outcomes. We’re building an AI-powered estate planning platform that’s intuitive, adviser-friendly, and radically user-centric. Early traction includes:
- A live v1 product already in testing with advisers and users
- Revenue and LOIs from our design partners
- 7x higher user engagement vs. traditional legal/financial tools
- Secured commitments and closing pre-seed round
Backed by ARK Venture Studio, we’re combining startup speed with long-term support. Now we’re hiring our first full-time engineer to shape the product and the codebase.
The Role
We’re hiring a Full-stack Engineer as a founding team member and likely future Tech Lead. You’ll report directly to the founding team, work closely with our fractional CTO, and help integrate AI capabilities as we build our MVP and beyond.
We’re not looking for someone to just “build what’s spec’d.” You’ll influence what we build, how we build it, and who joins the team after you.
Responsibilities
- Own development of all user-facing features (60–70% FE focus)
- Contribute to development of backend services, APIs, and infrastructure (Node.js(TypeScript), Python etc)
- Collaborate on architecture and data model decisions
- Translate Figma files into performant, maintainable components
- Work with the team to prototype and integrate AI/LLM features (e.g., OpenAI, LangChain) into the product.
- Build on the foundations laid by our fractional CTO to evolve rapid iterative deployment, and testing practices
- Collaborate on internal tooling and admin dashboards, building on initial frameworks where in place.
- Shape our engineering culture, stack, and hiring bar
About You
You’re a pragmatic builder who gets energy from moving quickly, owning outcomes, and solving real-world problems. You’re technical enough to operate solo now and ambitious enough to scale up later.
Must-Haves
- 4+ years of experience building production-grade web apps
- Proficiency in modern JS frameworks (React or similar) using TypeScript and integrating with APIs
- Proficient in modern CSS and utilising frameworks such as Tailwind
- Confidence working across the stack (Node.js, Postgres) all running in AWS
- Startup or 0→1 experience: ambiguity doesn’t scare you
- UK-based and able to work full-time
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with AI tooling or LLMs
- Experience with Serverless Architectures
- Familiarity with estate planning, financial wellbeing, or legaltech
- Interest in building category-defining, purpose-led software
Why Join Now?
- A massive problem, barely solved: Estate planning is broken. We’re building the rails to make it simple and scalable, for millions.
- Real traction, real design partners: Advisers are already testing our v1 and asking for more.
- Structured support from ARK Studio: Design, funding, GTM, and strategy support is built-in.
- Leadership and legacy: You’ll shape the product, the stack, and the early team, while earning meaningful equity in a mission-driven company.
