Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach well-structured, differentiated lessons that are aligned to the agreed curriculum and cultivate every student's artistic curiosity.
- Set high expectations so that all students are inspired, motivated and challenged to reach their full potential, and in doing so meet their progress and attainment targets.
- Use well-selected and safe practical work to help students understand Art concepts.
- Use data to inform teaching and learning, identify areas for intervention and provide feedback to students, staff and families in order to promote progress and outcomes.
- Manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment so that students can focus on learning.
- Work collaboratively with both school and network colleagues as a committed team member, building successful, high-performing teams.
- Participate actively throughout the network by attending relevant meetings and, as appropriate, delivering network-wide training and initiatives.
- Work with colleagues, students and families to develop a strong school community.
Academy Culture
- Support the Executive Principal and other strategic leaders in fostering a strong sense of Academy community and ethos, aligned to the Academy values, among both staff and students.
- Support the academy's vision by contributing to the development and implementation of policies, practices and procedures.
- Help create a strong academy community, characterised by consistent, orderly behaviour and caring, respectful relationships.
- Support and work in collaboration with colleagues and other professionals in and beyond the school, covering lessons and providing other support as required.
- Be aligned with Ark's high aspirations and high expectations of self and others.
Extra-Curricular
- Participate in and/or create extra-curricular art activities and trips.
- Contribute to the Performing Arts faculty (art for school productions, etc.).
Other Responsibilities
- Undertake, and when required, deliver or be part of the appraisal system and relevant training and professional development.
- Undertake any other responsibilities directed by the Executive Principal and ALT members.
- Commit to equality of opportunity and the safeguarding and welfare of all students.
- Show willingness to undertake training.
- Offer enrichment opportunities that stretch and challenge.
- Work closely with the SEN department so that low-attaining students are supported in making rapid and sustained progress.
