Support Practitioners are at the heart of Ark's services, supporting people to live good, fun and independent lives as valued members of their communities. Our Forfar services support adults ranging from their early twenties to later life, all with a variety of learning disabilities and health needs. Support is delivered in a person-centred, rights-based way, in line with the Health and Social Care Standards and SSSC Codes of Practice.

People we support live in different settings:

  • Supported living environments, where individuals live in their own self-contained flats within purpose-built buildings, with access to shared communal lounges and gardens.
  • Community-based (outreach) support, where individuals live independently in their own homes within the local community.

In all settings, the focus is on choice, dignity, independence and inclusion. Many people enjoy taking part in group activities, learning new skills, planning events, contributing to local voices groups and being actively involved in decisions about their lives including the recruitment of new staff.

As a Support Practitioner, you will work alongside people to support them to:

  • Live as independently as possible in their own homes.
  • Build and maintain relationships within their communities.
  • Take part in meaningful activities that reflect their interests and goals.
  • Develop confidence, skills and autonomy.
  • Manage aspects of daily living in a way that promotes dignity and choice.

You will be part of a supportive staff team providing consistent, high-quality support that is safe, compassionate and responsive to individual needs.

People we support consistently tell us they value staff who are:

  • Reliable and committed.
  • Caring, respectful and patient.
  • Good communicators.
  • Values-led and person-centred.
  • Motivated to support people to live fulfilling, independent lives.

Previous experience in care is helpful but not essential - full training and ongoing support will be provided.
