Position: Medical Delivery Driver

Location: Field based from our depot at Glasgow

Job type: Full Time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: rolling shift pattern

  • Week 1- Monday-Friday (rest days Saturday Sunday)
  • Week 2 – Wednesday – Sunday (rest days Monday Tuesday)
  • Week 3- Monday- Wednesday + Saturday-Sunday (rest days Thursday Friday)

Working as part of the northern team, you will be delivering and collecting rental equipment to all hospital sites for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the NHS Lothian sites in Edinburgh, as well as supporting the team covering the surrounding areas. Some days may start and finish at the local depot in Glasgow, where other days may start by going straight to the hospital sites.

You will be responsible for delivering equipment direct to the wards, and collecting any equipment that is no longer required. The majority of the equipment you will be working with are pressure relieving mattresses, which are inflated on hospital beds and then deflated by the wards, rolled up and bagged ready for collection. Supplied with an iPad and iPhone, you will be required to log all serial numbers of equipment as it goes in and out of the hospital, so a keen eye for detail is needed.

A valid drivers license is essential, as you will load your van at the local depot, and work from your van for the rest of the day, attending to any orders that come through to you. As all installation requests need to be delivered within 4 hours, it is essential that you have a methodical and practical approach, to make sure that patients are not waiting long periods for essential equipment. You will be able to use the van to get to and from work, so you must have somewhere suitable to park the van when at home. The role does involve lifting, so you must be able to lift bulky mattresses for long periods, although equipment is provided to support moving the rental products around the hospitals. No experience is needed, as full training will be given. Personality, enthusiasm, positivity and communication skills are essential in the role to help Arjo build strong relationships with our customers. Working in Scotland, you will be the face of Arjo for our customers and patients.

The skills you will need:

  • A practical approach.
  • Ability to prioritize work and amend route plans accordingly.
  • A positive and team oriented approach.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Driving License: Required to hold a valid UK driver’s license.
  • Enhanced PVG Scotland clearance: Required (at the cost of Arjo).
  • Must be able to lift bulky mattresses for prolonged periods.
  • Due to the nature of this role, there may be a requirement to undertake work outside of normal hours i.e. evenings, weekends and bank holidays and participate in the “On Call” rota.
  • You will be required to drive a large van and hold a clean driving license (held for a minimum of one year) and be able to route plan effectively.

What we will offer in return: You will support our vision to be the most trusted partner in driving healthier outcomes for people facing mobility challenges. In return, we recognize and value our global employees. You will have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with a competitive package. We will provide uniform and access to a company van.

Why diversity matters to us: At Arjo, we believe in the power of diversity. We strongly encourage applicants from all parts of society, which means building a more diverse, equitable, inclusive and engaging environment – not only in the workplace, but also within the communities that we serve, work in and live in. We achieve this through a culture and mindset that values the uniqueness of all our people. Arjo is proud to be Disability Confident Committed, demonstrating our dedication to inclusive employment practices. If you require any reasonable adjustments for the interview please do request via the application process. We have pledged to the Armed Forces Covenant, supporting those who serve or have served in the armed forces. As a member of the Mental Health Charter, we are committed to promoting mental well-being in the workplace. Additionally, we are honoured to be recognized as a Great Place to Work for 2025, reflecting our commitment to creating a positive and rewarding workplace for all.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced PVG Scotland check prior to commencing employment.

Please be aware that by applying for this role, you are giving Arjo permission to store your information.
