An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a respected main contractor delivering a new build block of apartments in South London. This 45-unit scheme for a housing association is about to kick off, and we’re looking for a hands-on, technically minded commercial lead who can take ownership of all financial aspects of the project from procurement through to final account.

You’ll play a key role in supporting the Project Manager and wider delivery team, taking full responsibility for cost management, subcontract & material procurement, and commercial reporting. This is a great opportunity for a Senior QS who enjoys being involved in the detail while also contributing strategically to project success.

Our clients operating area is the South Coast to London, so somebody in the M23 Corridor / Surrey north of Crawley would be well placed for their geographical coverage. This specific project is based in Norwood and applicants will be based there 4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all commercial and contractual elements of the project.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Procure and manage subcontract packages from tender to final account.
  • Lead valuations, variations, and change control processes.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure commercial alignment.
  • Support procurement of materials and assist in self-delivery cost management.
  • Provide commercial guidance to site teams and drive value across all stages of delivery.
About You
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Experience working for a main contractor, not developer.
  • Proven background delivering new build social housing schemes.
  • Solid understanding of both technical construction and commercial risk.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach and a genuine passion for project delivery.
What’s on Offer
  • Salary up to £100,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
  • Opportunity to take commercial ownership of a high-profile London project.
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment with strong career prospects.
  • A company that values initiative, technical ability, and long-term development.

If you’re a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for a role with real responsibility on a technically challenging RC frame project, we’d love to hear from you asap. Ideally interviews will be conducted in the next two weeks and a start in January would be possible, however if there is a longer notice period it would not be a problem.
