Health and Safety Manager – Main Contractor – Sussex, Surrey, London Do you want to help shape and then grow the H&S team within an established and growing main contractor? Are you a passionate, engaging, and proactive Health, Safety, and Environmental professional? My client has relied on outsourcing up to this point, but with a strong pipeline of work and big growth plans they are now looking to hire a Health & Safety Manager for the business, and give them the autonomy to shape and grow the department, processes and policies. In this role, you will be responsible for providing ongoing HSE support to multiple construction sites in London and the Southern Counties. You will work closely with the operations teams and external H&S partners to drive HSEQ initiatives, monitor site safety performance, and ensure compliance with ISO45001 Safety, Quality, and Environment Management systems, as well as implementing company policies and procedures. The company is a successful main contractor that operates predominantly in London, Sussex and Surrey. They work across a number of sectors including housing, retrofit, education and general refurbishment schemes. Projects range from £1M to £15M. The ideal candidate will already be working for a main contractor as a Health and Safety Manager or Senior Advisor with excellent planning skills and the ability to stay one step ahead. You should be client-focused, possess strong commercial acumen, and have a track record of delivering results within deadlines. Role Responsibilities: * Liaise with the wider operations team and other client team members * Attend client H&S meetings * Support site teams with all H&S aspects * Review safe systems of work * Attend and advise during safe start meetings * Manage day-to-day H&S activities on site * Conduct workplace inspections and report findings * Conduct investigations into accidents or incidents * Manage on-site occupational health * Coordinate training for project staff Role Requirements: * NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent * CSCS Professional Card * First aid trained * Passionate about Health & Safety * An effective communicator at all levels * A technically aware team player with experience providing health and safety support in the construction and building services sectors * Proficient in IT and report writing
