As Marketplace Manager, you will take full ownership of marketplace channel across UK and EU. Responsible for driving visibility, conversion and revenue growth across each individual marketplace, ensuring content is high quality and optimised, and performance is continually improving through testing and data-led insights. You'll partner with key stakeholders across demand planning, marketing, customer service, product and leadership to execute strategy, and ensure a seamless, best-in-class presence for the brand. This is a commercial, hands-on role requiring knowledge of international marketplaces and cross-functional collaboration.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Manage and own the full end-to-end for Next PLC, Zalando and other marketplace accounts from product range selection, sell-in to sell-out including forecasting, operational management and data analytics.
- Partnering with all key teams across the business (Demand Planning, Marketing, Finance, IT, Customer Services and Product).
- Working closely with Demand Planning to ensure seamless operations from inventory management, monitoring sales and stock replenishment, to analysing returns.
- Driving sales growth, setting trading plans, and managing the channel P&L working closely with Finance.
- Full ownership of product data feeds, from creating and optimising product titles, descriptions, imagery and attributes, ensuring best practice for SEO, to uploading files onto each platform as required.
- Develop and manage relationships with platform vendors to trade each marketplace, to maximise seasonal exposure and marketing opportunities for the brand.
- Develop and own the long-term strategy for all marketplace activity, supporting the business EMEA expansion into new markets, whilst always ensuring Ariat is displayed in a premium way.
Stakeholder Management: Given the strategic priority of the channel, the role will require regular reviews with the key members of the exec team.
Reporting: Share weekly updates to key business stakeholders; monthly and quarterly reviews with deep insights on actions to grow the business.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Marketplace Platform Expertise: Deep understanding of marketplace algorithms, listing compliance, chargeback prevention, and fulfilment standards.
- Experience: Proven experience in marketplace management and trading.
- Data-Driven Mindset: Advanced Excel (pivot tables, formulas), experience with BI tools (eg Tableau) and strong analytical ability to forecast demand and monitor sales performance.
- P&L Management: Proven track record of managing detailed P&L for marketplace channels.
- Ad & Campaign Management: Experience with marketplace advertising tools (sponsored listings, performance media) and ROAS optimisation.
- Feed & Inventory Management: Hands-on experience with feed management tools and ecommerce platforms.
- Commercial Acumen: Skilled negotiator with experience in vendor agreements, trade terms, and promotional planning.
About You:
- Proven marketplace experience, minimum of 3 years managing retail marketplace accounts, preferably for a premium footwear or apparel brand.
- Strong knowledge of marketplace platforms, Zalando experience is essential.
- Proven P&L ownership for marketplace channels.
- Experience in vendor negotiations and commercial discussions.
- European market knowledge.
