Reporting into the Financial Controller, this is a broad role combining financial and management reporting, financial control, process improvement and project work, initially supporting a large control and governance project that is focusing on cleaning up legacy balance sheet and P&L numbers.
The successful candidate will join an established finance function and play an important role in strengthening processes, controls and governance across the team.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the monthly management and statutory reporting process
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements and monthly IFRS reporting
- Cost and expense analysis, including budget and forecast variance analysis
- Supporting the annual statutory accounts and year-end audit
- Balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger control
- Helping develop and improve finance processes, controls and reporting
- Supporting regulatory, accounting and systems-related projects
- Preparing analysis and information for senior finance and business stakeholders
Fully qualified accountant (essential) with around 3 to 5 years PQE or thereabouts. Strong financial reporting and IFRS experience gained in a large financial services organisation (essential). Good grounding in financial control, month-end and balance sheet reconciliations. Strong Excel and analytical skills. Someone comfortable operating in a large, complex and stakeholder-heavy environment.
This would suit a technically strong accountant who enjoys a broad remit and is comfortable combining core financial reporting and control responsibilities with process improvement and more project-led work. The position is initially offered as a 6 month FTC, with the potential to transition into a permanent role depending on performance and longer-term team requirements. Salary on offer is £75-80k base plus benefits and a hybrid working set up.
