Role overview

To deliver high-quality Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and associated remedial works across ARH Group client sites, ensuring electrical installations are inspected, tested, reported and made safe in accordance with current regulations, industry standards and company procedures.

The EICR Tester will carry out thorough inspection and testing of electrical installations, accurately identify and classify observations, and complete remedial works arising from each report. The role requires a strong focus on technical accuracy, productivity and workmanship, with all certification and supporting records completed correctly and on time.

This is a mobile role involving significant out-of-hours and evening work. The successful candidate will ideally be based in the Midlands and must be prepared to lodge away frequently during the working week, typically Monday to Thursday and, when required, Sunday to Thursday.

As a customer-facing representative of ARH Group, the EICR Tester will work professionally and independently on client premises, communicate clearly with clients and colleagues, and deliver safe, compliant work with minimal disruption to site operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports across a range of commercial and client-facing sites.
  • Inspect and test electrical installations in accordance with BS 7671, current guidance, client requirements and company procedures.
  • Identify, code and clearly record observations, defects and non-compliances, supported by accurate test results and appropriate evidence.
  • Complete remedial works arising from EICRs, including fault finding, repairs, replacements and minor alterations as required.
  • Verify completed remedial works through appropriate inspection and testing and issue accurate certification within the required timescales.
  • Plan and manage daily workloads efficiently, including work delivered on an agreed fixed-price basis, without compromising safety, compliance or quality.
  • Complete EICR certificates, schedules, remedial records, job reports and other documentation accurately and on time.
  • Liaise with clients, colleagues, contractors, the helpdesk and management team to coordinate access, progress and completion of works.
  • Identify and report urgent risks, additional works, access limitations or other issues that may affect safety, compliance or delivery.
  • Maintain test instruments, tools, equipment, materials and company property in a safe and serviceable condition, including required calibration records.
  • Work flexibly across the Midlands and wider UK, including frequent lodging away and travel to meet operational requirements.
  • Undertake a significant amount of out-of-hours and evening work, and occasional Sunday travel or working, as required by client access arrangements.
  • Maintain a professional approach on client premises and represent ARH Group to a high standard.
  • Undertake training and any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role and the needs of the business.

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Previous experience carrying out EICRs and associated remedial works is essential.
  • The successful candidate must be competent in inspection, testing, fault finding and the accurate classification of observations across commercial or similar client-facing electrical installations.
  • The role requires the ability to work independently, manage productive workloads and complete certification accurately. A practical and flexible approach is essential, together with a willingness to undertake frequent evening and out-of-hours work and lodge away during the week.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent electrical qualification
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • City & Guilds 2391 inspection and testing qualification, or equivalent
  • JIB Gold Card
  • IPAF Certificated
