People Advisor

People Advisor

Full-Time No working from home possible
Argyll

As our People Advisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering a responsive, practical and high-quality people service across Argyll. This is a hands-on role supporting managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle, with a particular focus on employee relations, people administration, compliance and operational excellence.

You’ll be a trusted first point of contact for managers, helping them handle people matters confidently and consistently — from absence, performance and conduct through to recruitment, onboarding and employee changes. This role would suit a strong People Advisor with solid employee relations experience, ideally gained in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment such as hospitality, retail, leisure or premium service.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide practical advice and guidance to managers and employees on day-to-day people matters, ensuring consistency, fairness and compliance with employment law and company policy
  • Manage a broad range of employee relations cases — absence, conduct, performance, grievance, disciplinary and investigations — from initial advice through to outcome
  • Support the full employee lifecycle: recruitment coordination, onboarding, probation reviews, contractual changes, family leave and offboarding
  • Coordinate people administration, payroll inputs, benefits processes and employee records, with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Maintain and improve HR systems, templates, policies and processes
  • Produce people reports and insight on absence, turnover and employee relations trends
  • Coach managers on people processes and good people management practice

Who you are:

  • Experienced People Advisor with a strong grounding in employee relations and HR operations
  • Ideally experienced in a fast-paced, customer-facing industry such as hospitality, retail, leisure, property, facilities management or premium service
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Confident handling ER cases with professionalism, care and sound judgement
  • Highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable working at pace
  • Approachable and credible, with the confidence to build trust with managers and employees at all levels
  • Experience of working with the Bob HRIS system would be a distinct advantage
  • Curious about how technology, automation and AI can improve HR efficiency and the employee experience
