Argyll and Bute Council is seeking to recruit a full-time Senior IT Engineer to join our IT Server Team based in Lochgilphead. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and customer-focused team supporting a large and diverse organisation.
The successful candidate will be an experienced IT professional involved in the design, installation and ongoing support of server infrastructure across the Council’s estate. Our operating environment includes both Microsoft and Linux servers, hosted across two datacentres and utilising a mix of physical and virtual machines. You will play a key role in delivering both hardware and software support, providing second- and third-line operational assistance, and ensuring the timely resolution of service requests, incidents and complex technical issues.
The role operates on a hybrid basis, allowing for a significant proportion of remote working; however, regular in-person attendance in Lochgilphead is essential to support effective service delivery. Travel to various Council offices and schools will also be required as service needs arise, therefore access to a vehicle or pool car is necessary.
The Council has made significant investment in its core technologies, including Microsoft 365, virtualisation and storage platforms, and we are looking for someone who can bring strong technical expertise and practical experience to enhance and support a professional, forward-thinking IT team.
