The Marine Operations team has a vacancy for a Marine Operations Manager. Argyll and Bute is one of Scotland’s most stunning areas. The Marine Operations Manager supports the Marine and Road Transport Service Manager in the strategic, operational and financial management of Argyll and Bute Council's marine services, including ferry operations, piers, harbours and marine infrastructure. You will support the Marine and Road Transport Service Manager to drive continuous improvement, undertake performance management and ensure best value across all marine operations while ensuring compliance with maritime, health and safety and statutory requirements.
The role is responsible for:
- ensuring safe, efficient and compliant service delivery
- overseeing ferry operations, vessel certification and maintenance programmes
- managing marine assets and contracted works
- developing and auditing Safety Management Systems
- monitoring budgets
- leading and supporting staff
- engaging with communities, stakeholders and regulatory bodies
Interviews will be held in person in Lochgilphead on Thursday 20th August 2026. The interview will take the form of you delivering a 10 minute presentation followed by a Q&A session.
