We have a vacancy for a Clerical Assistant to join our friendly team and provide administrative support for our Committee Support and Member Services operations, which sit within the council’s Governance team.

This post is based at the council’s Kilmory headquarters and the hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Argyll and Bute Council offers a flexible working policy and we are happy to discuss this with applicants. This post holder does need to attend at the office in Lochgilphead on a regular basis.

We are looking for a level-headed, reliable and organised person, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and who’s able to get to grips with using new computer systems, to help us provide high quality support for councillors and to contribute to the smooth running of the committee meetings they attend.

Our team’s workload is busy and varied and the Clerical Assistant’s responsibilities include the following and a range of other tasks:

- General office administration including processing invoices, travel claim forms, bookings, ordering supplies and use of computer packages.
- Booking rooms for meetings and preparing/circulating the Weekly List of Meetings for the Council Chambers and Committee rooms.
- Assisting in the administration of the Committees and in particular provide support in setting up Webcasting, Teams/Skype as required for meetings in the Council Chambers and liaising with colleagues in IT to ensure appropriate technical support is in place to facilitate meetings.
- Answering telephones within the office environment and across the team.
