We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Casual Assistant Social Care Workers to join our caring and committed team. Working within our residential service for older adults, you will support residents to maintain their independence, dignity, and wellbeing while helping to deliver safe, high-quality person-centred care. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference while gaining valuable experience in a supportive care environment.

As a Casual Assistant Social Care Worker within our 16-bed residential care service for older adults, you will help support residents to live as independently, safely, and comfortably as possible. Working in a homely care environment, you will provide direct care and support to residents, promoting their dignity, wellbeing, and quality of life.

On a day-to-day basis, you will work closely with residents, care staff, the Unit Manager, families, and healthcare professionals to help ensure individual care needs are met and care plans are followed effectively. The role involves supporting residents with daily living activities, encouraging independence, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to a safe and supportive environment.

As a casual member of staff, you will provide flexible cover for annual leave, sickness absence, training, and periods of increased demand. This role makes a meaningful difference to the lives of older people in Argyll and Bute by helping ensure the continuity of high-quality, person-centred care within the service.

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and compassionate individual who is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care for older adults. You will have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team within a residential care setting. It is desirable that the successful candidate holds, or is willing to work towards, an appropriate qualification in Health and Social Care and be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) in line with regulatory requirements.

Previous experience of working in a care environment and supporting older adults would be advantageous but not essential. You should have an understanding of safeguarding, promoting dignity and independence, and delivering care in line with relevant legislation, standards, and best practice. A flexible approach to working patterns is essential, as the post provides casual cover for annual leave, sickness absence, training, and periods of increased demand. A satisfactory PVG Scheme Membership check is required for this post.

From employee recognition schemes to environmental policies we have many initiatives in place to help us look after the things we all care about.

Argyll and Bute Council recognises the numerous benefits of a positive work-life balance to the wellbeing and productivity of our employees. We will take a flexible first approach to requests from our employees to change the way that they work.
