Role Overview
Argyll & Bute Chief Officers Group is seeking to recruit an experienced, skilled and dynamic individual to undertake the role of external Independent Chair of our Adult Protection Committee. The Independent Chair will provide assurance on inter‑agency working to protect adults in Argyll & Bute. The Adult Protection Committee is a multi‑agency forum that develops, implements, and improves adult protection strategy across agencies, public bodies, and the community. The Chair will convene and oversee core functions of the Committee in line with legislation and national guidance, provide strategic leadership and direction, and represent Argyll & Bute partnership nationally, linking with Scottish Government to ensure participation in ongoing national developments.
Responsibilities
- Convene and oversee the core functions of the Adult Protection Committee in line with relevant legislation and national guidance.
- Provide strategic leadership to drive the programme of development in safeguarding adults and offer external direction and oversight of activities detailed in the annual business plans.
- Promote continuous improvement and contribute to protection activity with colleagues in Child Protection, Alcohol and Drug Partnership, Prevent, and Violence to Women and Girls.
- Represent Argyll & Bute partnership nationally, linking with Scottish Government to ensure participation in ongoing national developments.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level and in possession of a relevant professional qualification and registration with an appropriate professional body.
- Management qualification and demonstrable significant leadership successes.
- Substantial experience of working at an executive level.
- Knowledge and experience of national developments in relation to adult and public protection and a proven track record in a senior strategic management role.
- Must not be a member or officer of the council and must not be currently employed by the council.
