What will you be doing?

We are currently looking for an experienced B2B conference/events sales professional to increase revenue across the conference portfolio. The business has identified a great amount of potential in revenue through shared relationships across the business, and this is a great opportunity for someone with the right experience to really optimise this. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop and grow their career in Sponsorship sales. As a key member of the conference team, you will develop client relationships, identifying the most appropriate prospects and contacting them to sell sponsorship and exhibition opportunities onto Argus conferences. You will look to sell packages across multiple events as well as one-off opportunities, overseeing sponsorship sales for approximately five conferences a year. The key to success in this role is developing an understanding of the energy sectors to tailor your approach to meet the needs of customers and build strong relationships. International travel will be needed, to include sales development trips and managing the sponsor/exhibitor experience at the event. Key Responsibilities

  • Value based consultative sales to existing and new clients to meet sales revenue targets
  • Tenacious business development lead sourcing and closing skills, particularly in international sales
  • Keep sales pipeline reporting up to date reporting and forecasting business accurately on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Work with the team globally to make best use of personal contacts and relationships and to ensure the right organisations have been approached
  • Liaise with the editorial team to maintain current knowledge of our products and our prospective sponsors/exhibitors needs
  • Develop a sponsorship strategy for each conference in collaboration with the head of global sponsorship sales, and event/sector project team
  • Negotiate creatively to tailor packages that ensure client needs are met and deal value is optimised
  • Research new technologies and conference and exhibition formats to implement the latest conference industry offerings to evolve and improve the delegate experience and enhance the Argus brand

Skills and Experience

  • 3 years plus conference sales experience
  • Equally adept to selling complex products both on the phone and face to face
  • Experience in conference sponsorship sales with a strong track record of exceeding targets
  • Creative and flexible thinker with the ability to devise new options to suit clients
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills and ability to network
  • Experience producing and delivering professional sales presentations
  • Customer focus with the ability to build credibility and rapport over the phone and in person
  • Strong co-ordination and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and targets and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to make a high volume of high-quality outbound calls
  • Ability to travel internationally
