Head of Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)

Location:

East Yorkshire

Salary:

£55,000 – £70,000 DOE

Benefits:

About The Role

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of SHEQ to lead safety, environmental, and quality initiatives across factory and site operations. This role involves working closely with senior stakeholders to embed a high-performance SHEQ culture, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement in a manufacturing and project-based environment.

What You\’ll Do

• Develop and lead SHEQ strategy aligned with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001)
• Ensure compliance with regulations and legislation, including CDM
• Oversee internal audits, inspections, and management systems, and drive corrective actions
• Lead a team of SHEQ professionals across health, safety, environmental, and quality disciplines
• Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies and certification audits
• Support tendering and client-facing activities with SHEQ documentation and expertise
• Lead training, induction, and safety culture initiatives across factory, site, and subcontractors
• Promote occupational health and wellbeing
• Monitor environmental impact, sustainability KPIs, and support the journey to Net Zero
• Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, HR, and Project teams to maintain high SHEQ standards

What We\’re Looking For

• Proven experience in senior HSEQ/SHEQ roles within manufacturing, construction, or engineering
• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent), IOSH membership, and Lead Auditor qualifications (ISO 9001/14001/45001) preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Deep understanding of health risk management, environmental compliance, and quality control
• Ability to work strategically and hands-on
• Track record of influencing safety culture and continuous improvement
