Reporting to the CHRO, the Senior HR Business Partner will provide strategic and operational HR partnership to the global Editorial organisation, supporting 600 employees across multiple regions. A key advisor to senior Editorial leaders in the UK and to HRBPs and leaders in other regions, this role will design, drive, and embed global talent strategies and programmes that strengthen leadership capability, support organisational growth, and improve overall people outcomes.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong attention to detail, proven ability to execute, and a willingness to βroll up their sleeves.β The successful candidate will be a self-starter with significant HRBP experience, strong relationship skills, and deep expertise in Employee Relations and UK employment law.
What Will You Be Doing
- Partner with senior Editorial leaders to develop and deliver the annual people plan aligned to organisational goals and HR strategic priorities.
- Design and deliver global talent plans and programmes with Editorial in partnership with regional HRBPs e.g. Editorial Overseas, graduate programmes, etc.
- Lead and support global HR initiatives (e.g., Career Framework, Employee Survey, Manager Excellence Programme, ERGs, CSR and leadership programmes) and embed them into the Editorial organisation.
- Partner with the HR Centres of Excellence and regional HR teams to ensure consistent global implementation of people programmes.
- Act as a trusted advisor on organisational design, change management, and workforce priorities, ensuring we have the right structures and teams in the right places.
- Support recruitment activities and coordinate international transfers.
- Ensure compliance procedures relating to Editorial recruitment, onboarding and training are fully documented to support the annual IOSCO assurance audit.
- Advise Editorial leaders on complex ER matters ensuring compliance with UK law. Support restructuring, consultation processes, and organisational change plans.
- Provide data-driven HR insights to improve organisational effectiveness, supporting performance, development, engagement, and workforce planning.
- Lead annual processes including talent reviews, succession planning, performance management, salary reviews and Editorial leadership development.
- Identify high-potential talent and opportunities for growth, mobility, and advancement.
- Support managers with performance coaching and feedback.
- Support and promote training programmes via HR, Global Editorial Trainer and external providers, including driving use of automation tools and AI.
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders to ensure best practice, and alignment of policies and processes.
- Deliver high-quality HRBP support through strong attention to detail, structured problem-solving, and follow-through.
- Strengthen Editorial culture through initiatives that drive accountability, collaboration, coaching, inclusion, and high performance.
Skills And Experience
- Significant and proven HR Business Partner experience in a global, matrixed organisation supporting a knowledge-based organisation.
- Deep knowledge of UK employment law and experience managing complex ER cases.
- Proven ability to design and deliver global talent and development programmes.
- Experience working with senior leaders and influencing at executive level.
- Strong relationship builder with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Evidence of operating both strategically and tactically β able to zoom out and lead globally while rolling up sleeves to execute.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and sound judgement.
- Experience facilitating change, restructuring, and organisational design.
- Prior experience partnering with geographically dispersed leaders across APAC, Americas, and EMEA.
- Strong analytical capability with experience leveraging people analytics.
